Invisibility cloak!
Oh, finally! A place I can dump my theories without ticking off friends who don't want to think/talk/are terrified about it.

My personal theory comes from a comment JKR made about "What question should someone have asked you?"

She said that no one has ever asked about how Dumbledore got James Potter's invisibility cloak to give to Harry.

So, I think that Remus was out doing patrols around James and Lily's hideout, wearing the invisibility cloak. Peter knew this, and was with Voldie on the awful day. He or Voldie stunned the hell out of Remus (most likely Peter, as Voldie would have just AK'd)

The next day, Dumbledore arrived, sent in Hagrid to pick up Harry, and found Remus, still out cold (cause we know Dumbledore can see through invisibility cloaks). Remus proceeded to go insane for a couple of years, as his entire life had fallen down around him, and Dumbledore had to deal with that for a while, hence the delay in getting to Privet Drive. Remus still though Sirius was the secret keeper, and told Dumbledore so, after sirius had already lent Hagrid his motorbike.

anyway...something like that. I definitely think there's more to Remus and that night!

I'm sure I'l be posting more soon!

It's not an absolute that DD can see through the cloaks, but I'm reasonably sure there some evidence in canon that it is possible. Or, at least, that he might have suspected it.

I see little evidence that Remus had been thought of as a traitor. I think that they would not have chosen Remus as the Secret Keeper, true, because of his weakness after the full moon. I don't think he would have let them pick him. But, once they had a Secret Keeper, it didn't matter WHO they told, becuase no one could reveal to another person where the house was, except for Peter. Remus would have known where they were, just as Sirius knew (he showed up on the Motorbike). DD knew, Hagrid knew, heck most of the Order knew. But only one person could betray them, and that was Peter.

But for anyone to know where the house as, Peter would have to tell them. At which point everyone would know Peter was secret keeper, and no one would have suspected Sirius of betraying the Potters. Fidelius must have been broken by Peter after Voldemort killed James and Lily, for Hagrid & Co. to have found the house.

Duh!

I think my vertigo is sapping my IQ...
I think I had thought a way around this a couple of months ago...something about Remus having amnesia....

Ah well, it was a nice theory while it lasted

Ahh, but maybe Remus does have amnesia -- just not about this....

You knew I'd be poking my head in here eventually, didn't you, Tater?

Hehe Of course!

And I got an "Outstanding" on the final WOMBAT, so everybody better lissen up!

Not that I'm going to be saying that much, mind you.

Yet.

I didn't get to do the WOMBAT because I couldn't get the stupid door unlocked even though people told me how...But I did hear there was a question about werepups on there. JKR loves her R/T shippers, doesn't she? She's SO going to have something in the epilogue about Remus and Tonks having children they affectionately call the multicolored werepups. ;)

There were werewolf-related questions on at least the second one too.

A certain friend also pointed out to me that the very last question was about what can conquer a werewolf (with NO CURE being an option). Interesting that this was the thought with which Jo chose to leave us, no?

What were the other choices?
Shield Wolfshield_wolf on June 25th, 2007 03:34 pm (UTC)
It was part of a group of dark creatures, spells, etc., that you had to match to their "antidotes." They were Boggart, Dementor, Devil's Snare, Draught of Living Death, Imperius Curse, Inferi and Werewolf, with the countercurses being Riddikulus, Expecto Patronum, Sunlight, (probably) Bezoar, Will, Fire and NO CURE. The choices left over were Aconite, Asphodel, Chocolate, Phoenix Tears, Wingardium Leviosa and Wormwood.

Interesting how easily several of them can be linked directly with a certain character, isn't it?

Indeed!

I mean, I suppose so. I just have a hard time seeing them let in a possible dark wizard when they're specifically trying to hide out. At least... I guess that's just the way I see it (:
